Simple and Lovely Side Mask Letter (requires PSP and Letter Creator)
Supplies Needed
Jasc PaintShopPro (I used PSP 7)
Letter Creator
Graphic and Mask I used - click here
Fantastic Machines - Tile Tools - Demo Download available here
Ok.....lets get started!
Unzip your supplies ( I recommend unzipped to the desktop so they are easy to find) and open PSP., then open up the fae image and the mask. Shift D to copy the faery image, then close it for later use.
Now, go to Masks....New.....From Image..... and select your mask from the drop down list provided. Then choose Masks....Delete. If you get a dialog box, answer yes.
Create a new image of 1024 pixels wide x 395 pixels high
Copy and paste your masked image as new layer into you new image.
Move your graphic to within about 20 pixels from the left border of your image so that there is blank space showing on both sides of the masked graphic.
Now, crop your image just ever so slightly so that you can be sure that your graphic completly fills your canvas from top to bottom and only the sides of the canvas show around the image.
Go to your layer palette and chose layer one. Then choose your flood fill tool. Set your background color to null and then use the eyedropper to choose an attractive color from your masked image to flood fill your background with. Once you have chosen a color, go ahead and fill in the background.
Now, go to Effects......Texture effects....Texture and choose a texture that you like for your background. (I find the more subtle, the better...)
OK - almost done!!!
Choose your image layer and go to Effect....3D Effects and choose Drop Shadow. Your settings should be: Offset - Vertical 5 and Horizontal 0 (the rest can be your preference)
Now, go to Effect, Plugin Filters, and choose FM Tile Tools, then choose Seamless Tile. Make sure that the verical box is checked and then apply with the default settings. Now - this part is over. Name your image and save it to the Desktop.
Open Letter Creator....
Select the Body Tab, the click on Image, choose the image you just created and when it loads in the preview pane, click tile. Now, the rest is easy, play with the Font and Font color styles until you get a look you like and then go to the Finish tab and save your work.
You did it! Pretty easy, hmmm?
